Boo on Photography. I'm dropping that shit. I have a feeling that I'm gonna be bumping into the same ppl all summer at De Anza. Oh well, familiar faces are usually nice to see.

So its either gonna be Karate or Abnormal Psychology this summer. They both start at the same time, so I gotta see which one I can get into. I promised my dad since I was 5 that I'd take karate before I move out of the house, and technically I still live in the house. I'd like to keep a promise for once. On the other hand, if I'm gonna take harder psych classes next quarter, then I should get a head start. Keep a promise or act on logic? hmm...

4 eventful days in a row, seems like summer's off to a good start. Watching the stars, city lights and discussing past, present, and future plans with Doane and Vic off the Fremont Hills made me realize (once again) how much stuff I have yet to do, accomplish, and experience. Actually, there's a lot about myself that I want to change to be the person I want to be.

Such as, I want to be a cultured person and know and appreciate lots of languages, arts, behaviors, politics, religions and ways of life around the world. But it would seem almost hypocritical of me to be cultured in all cultures except the one I SHOULD know the most about. I can't speak Vietnamese fluently, I don't observe or know about any traditions, I almost never go to the temple or do anything Buddhist, nor do I own anything resembling Vietnamese culture. Heck, I've flat out refused to join the VSA and Chinese club in high school, cut Vietnamese school and Temple regurlarly in middle school, and quit Tae Kwon Do after less than one day in elementary school.

Seems like I've had absolutely no interest in my roots or ancestry, but I hope that would change. Doane brought up an interesting convo the other night that he thinks our culture is already dead, but he hopes to preserve as many aspects as he can when he has a family. Strange how ppl are already talking about future families. Anyways, I figure I might join VSA this fall at UCD since I already know some officers and members.

Its still a maby.

Spring quarter grades are in. Gag. Yes, my GPA is slowly dwindling down. Especially Chemistry - B+ (Fall), B (Winter), B- (Spring). And Calculus - A+ (Fall), B+ (Winter), B (Spring). Goodness, I gotta start picking up the pace this fall. Math should have gotten better. I even did all my hw and studied, and all I get is a B. Blah. Alrite, so here's the raw digits:

Chemistry 2C - B-
Calculus 16C - B
Psychology 1 - A
Food Science 10 - A

Spring '04 GPA: 3.36
Cummulative GPA: 3.41

I've been in Milpitas for 4 days now, but I've been cleaning my room for 3 of those days. Apparently I bought so much crap over the year, that all my stuff from Davis can't fit into my room at home. Yea, so I'm getting rid of 4 bags full of clothes, 2 boxes of random tourist junk, and a lot of other stuff.

Anyways, I'm planning on going to summer school and taking Photography at De Anza, if I can't get a job. Hopefully I can wake up every morning and run a mile or two every other day. Man, some ol' classmates totally let themselves loose in the DC this year. I definitely don't want that to happen to me. Overweight before age 20? That's insane! Another reason to keep being active and eating right.

I almost forgot, it feels great being back in M-town.

Grr... I'm so distracted right now! I can't believe I still have a final left. Calculus C... wonderful. Its a shame that its one of my more EASIER classes, but nonetheless, no more math from tomorrow at noon until forever.

I'm gonna be the last out of the dorms bi-atch!

Taquiera Guadalajara is awesome.

One of the last DC dinners with Rye3 boys and girls today. You kids made my freshman year great. And much love to the Indio kids, too.

House/frat partying, playing in the parks at night, swimming & tanning at the rec pool, nightly group workouts, chilling in the hallways, Korean porn comedies, laying on the grass after class, talking up a storm in the DC, drunkedness on weekdays, Taco Bell lunches with lab group, addiction to The Apprentice, Cache Creek group betting, goofing in lecture halls, stealing from the DC, turning strangers into friends, on-campus file sharing sprees, bike trips at 3AM ... I guess this year can be summed up by Rye3's popular motto: No Regrets.

My first year experience at UC-Davis was beyond any expectations. Now its time for summer fun! Hope to see some of the Davis crew during the summer, and of course, I plan on spending most of my time with my "homies" back in "The Milpitas Projects".

Davis, I'll see ya in 3 months.

I have a new stalker from M (Asian) building. Seriously. Goddamn. Just another reason to escape to ma familia across campus. And another reason to make sure I'm surrounded by friends and hallmates in the DC and anywhere else.

Now I must roll with a posse.

And ironically I'm V.P. of the Davis Stalker Club Chapter IV. Indio Alan is the Prez. Hopefully we can recruit enough folks to stalk this stalker of mine.

This is a weird last week. Familiar strangers are coming up and talking to me. There's a lot of randomness, not spontaniety, just akward randomness. I've been very pro-meeting new ppl this year, but suddenly, I feel an urge to hide from them. Is this normal?

I'd much rather hang out with ppl I've known and been familiar with all year, than start anything new with a whole different group. Yea, there's nothing wrong with staying in my bubble.

Sunday: Regan Pool Party
Good times, lots of wrestling and dunking in the H2O with the kids from across campus.

Tuesday: My first visit to the nearby Asian Building dorm.
I met a resident at the rec pool and he insisted on giving me a tour of his builiding. And the myths can now be confirmed. Yes, half the building IS fob. Yes, they realize they travel in mobs that can be intimidating, and many do not know ppl who live outside the Asian building. Yes, the residents are generally conservative, peaceful folk. But they're also very close-knit, have few fights, and have awesome murals and interior design.

Apparently I'm invited to go swimming with the building on Thursday. Hmm... it took 9 months for me to meet ppl who live in my area. For some reason, I find it easier to go out of my way and hang out with ppl who live across campus.

Whoa... 2 posts in one day?

Tonite's outings with the girls was awesome, in that humble sort of way. The long convo in the pool with Jess is greatly appreciated. There's so many opportunities to meet ppl and have fun, memorable times, but sometimes just chilling with the ppl you already know well is cool, too.

After dinner in downtown, the girls and I stumbled across this HUGE, modern art gallery. In all these 9 months in Davis, I swear I thought it was just an old shack where old men would hang out and smoke cigars. Turns out the place is full of life, with bands playing, a nifty gift shop and 5 floors of... Art. And the interior is HOT, in that Mtv Cribs sort of way.

Lesson I learned in Davis: Friendliness, Random acts of boredness, Bonding and close-knit community thrive in the boonies. Cowtown ain't all that boring and I actually like it here. Throw in some urban, suburban, and boontown kids in a surreal nature setting, and its all gravy.

I can't believe I woke up to my 8AM chem class today. Last night/this morning's Lambda's party was a lot more chill than usual. More than just dancing, I actually got to know some ppl. After three weeks of only studying and working out, I almost forgot how fun gettin crunk and goofing around with the usual suspects can be.

Anyways, Calculus midterm today. Last of the Calculus-ABC series forever! As soon as I walk out of that lecture hall, I'm celebrating no more math with the girls at the rec pool. This last weekend before finals shall be fun fun fun...

Rex is instilling Viet pride in the small Vietnamese Davis population by watching gangsta Viet rap music videos together.

"You got beef. Its about... Viet-nah-mese!"

May: May lay bo cua tao. Tao bang may chet!
Translation: You took my lover. I'm gonna shoot you dead! Damn, I should watch out for that girl.
