2006-2007:
My new officer positions will be Service Chair of AKPsi and Fundraising & Activities Coordinator of Davis Foresight, pre-optometry club. I'm so glad that I didn't run for Foresight President. I can care less about that club right now, so I'm taking a less demanding position next year. In a way, its sad how easily I can get these positions; every Foresight member told me that I was a shoe-in president and the current president kept telling me to just take the damn position, even though I've been skipping every social and marketing event. Since I kept declining, she had to convince the current lazy VP to take position.
Then the AKPsi executive board assigned me Service Chair based on my likeability. As one officer said, "the other candidates had really good applications, but you have a better reputation. It was a really really hard decision, yet in the end we had to choose you." Apparently, being liked is more important than skill or passion. That worries me. Can I succeed on sheer skill and passion alone, or will I succeed because ppl just like me enough to give me breaks?
