The election is over and we now have our new President-elect Barack Obama. I have to say, I'm pretty proud that my parents pulled through and voted Obama. Not only did they vote Obama, but they defended him when pressed by their McCain supporting friends and relatives (although my dad has to learn to stop spreading terrible McCain lies). My mom told her relatives to their faces that "if you vote McCain, you're voting with an old mentality, like old people clinging to the old ways!" I'm surprised by how much she likes Obama. She was moved when she heard about his grandma and even more moved when she saw his tear-jerking acceptance speech. For the past couples days, my mom talked passionately about the civil rights era, Rosa Parks, and the future of our country. I've never heard my mom talk about American politics, period. Until now. How things have changed.
